Another year has gone by and, once again, we are only days away from observing Memorial Day. This coming weekend, as we gather for BBQs and other activities that signal the unofficial start of the summer season, let's take a moment to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day. This day is not just a holiday; it’s a solemn reminder of the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Let's honor their legacy by reflecting on their courage and commitment. Take a moment to visit a memorial, attend a ceremony, or simply pause in silence at 3PM local time. By doing so, we:
- Demonstrate gratitude to those who died for our freedom.
- We remind all Americans of the importance of remembering those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.
- We provide U.S. citizens in America and throughout the world the opportunity to join in this symbolic act of unity.
and
- We help make Memorial Day relevant, especially to younger Americans.
Let’s all do our part to put “memorial” back into Memorial Day.
